BLACKBURN Rovers skipper Barry Ferguson believes Dwight Yorke has a future at Ewood Park after making his peace with Graeme Souness.

Yorke made a surprise return to action in the 2-0 pre-season victory at Stockport County on Wednesday night -- and Ferguson said it was good to see him back.

The Scottish international welcomed his manager's U-turn after it appeared he had written Yorke out of his plans altogether following a series of high profile bust-ups.

Yorke played a full 90 minutes at Edgeley Park and is set to play a part in tomorrow's trip to Preston (3pm kick-off).

Ferguson said: "It was good to see him back in action against Stockport. I've always said that Yorkie is a quality player. Anyone who saw him play on Wednesday would have seen that in his performance there."

Yorke seemed to be on the verge of leaving Ewood Park before Souness decided to give the 32-year-old former Manchester United striker a second chance.

Ferguson was speaking at the launch of Rovers' new away shirt and business partnership with Sports World International at Sports Soccer in Blackburn Shopping Centre.

And he said he hoped Souness and Yorke had settled their differences for good.

"Hopefully, they have buried it under the carpet and it seems that way," added Ferguson

"If you get Yorkie fit and playing well then he is a quality player and he's good to have in the dressing room as well."

Meanwhile, Ferguson said there are no hard feelings between him and Garry Flitcroft over the issue of the captaincy.

Ferguson took over the armband from Flitcroft earlier in the summer after Souness had decided it was time for a change in leadership.

He said: "There is not a problem. I get on with him like I did when I first came to the club.

"But Flitty is a perfect pro and that is what you would expect from him.

"It is a hard thing to take over because he has done a great job so I am just looking forward to being captain."

Rovers fans will be located in the Bill Shankly Kop for tomorrow's game at Preston. Tickets are £10 for adults, and £5 for Over 65s and Under 16s.
