THE wonders of the weather system was put to good use by pupils from five Bury primary schools.

They took part in Powergen's Changing Climate programme to show how they had used the national curriculum to learn about the weather.

Youngsters from St John with St Mark Primary School; St Luke's Primary School; St Thomas Primary School; Tottington Primary School; and Unsworth Primary School, displayed their work at Greater Manchester Waste Group in Bolton where guests included ITV weather reporter Jon Mitchell.

The Changing Climate programme uses school subjects, such as maths and science to PE and drama, to teach pupils about energy efficiency and alternative sources of energy. Powergen provided the schools with a resource pack and weather recording equipment.

Lisa Marshall, the programme's manager, said: "I'm always amazed to see the many different ways in which the programme is used and the work produced is always of an excellent quality."
