POLICE are throwing their doors open to the public next month with an open day at their Divisional HQ at Burnley police station.
The open day, which will run from 10am - 4pm on Saturday, August 14, will include a display of police cars, bikes and the CCTV van, shows by police dog handlers, armed response officers and community beat officers.
There will also be station tours where people can take a look at the cells, watch an ID parade and get their fingerprints taken, as well as see the communications centre where the police take calls from the public.
A variety of information and advice from crime prevention to recruitment will also be available with free bike and mobile phone marking and free balloons and activities for children including colouring competitions.
The event will also include a visit by Burnley's Community Wardens who are hoping to bring along their graffiti bus.
Supt Steve Hartley, operations manager at Pennine police, said: "This is the first event of its kind in the division and we're really looking forward to throwing open our doors and letting people see behind the scenes of their local police service.
"The open day is a great opportunity for us to show people the type and variety of work that our police officers do and it's a great opportunity for the public to come along, learn more about their local police."
