PLANS to transform the site of a historic Cinema in Nelson come before councillors again next week.
It follows a move by councillors last month to defer a decision on whether to grant outline planning permission for the redevelopment of the former Grand Cinema.
Members of the Nelson Committee were concerned at the lack of information about the development which would see the area turned into an office, retail and leisure complex.
Proposals for the site which is bordered by Market Street, Cross Street, Russell Street and Back Scotland Road, include a 500-employee office block and parking.
A number of buildings have had to be compulsory purchased by the council to make way for the scheme and negotiations are still continuing with the Salvation Army into them vacating their premises.
A report to the council says every effort is being taken to secure the building through negotiation.
It continues: "The application has been submitted with a view to seeing the site redeveloped.
"It is a key site within Nelson and is currently in a parlous condition. In order to bring the site together a compulsory purchase order may need to be pursued."
Councillors will discuss the proposals when the Nelson Committee meets on Monday.
