THERE has been much publicity about the upgrading of Prestwich Village and the installation of the so-called decorative fountain in the precinct, neither of which has made the slightest difference to the area.

There is absolutely nothing attractive about the precinct given the amount of dirt and litter within it. There are empty carrier bags, empty bottles, sweet/chocolate wrappers, cigarette ends and heaven knows what in and around the fountain and shops.

As for the Village itself, the dirt and litter is endless. A small fortune has been spent on the fountain but why, when Bury Council find it impossible to keep the dirt and litter at bay. The whole area is a disgrace. Is this what we pay our exorbitant council tax for?
