COURAGEOUS Clarets striker Ian Moore is ready to push himself through the pain barrier to end his pre-season nightmare.

Moore has successfully completed his first full training session in almost two weeks in preparation for tomorrow's friendly clash with 1860 Munich.

The £1m striker has played just 60 minutes football so far this summer after suffering tweaked ankle ligaments against Dundee United.

And Moore, who is still not fully recovered, knows he now needs to step up his comeback with 90 minutes against the German side.

Speaking after his first full training session in Austria, he said: "The ankle is still a little bit sore and it will be for the next couple of weeks.

"It's just a case of getting through the pain and the physio, Andy Mitchell, has just told me to keep exercising it and I should be fine for the start of the season.

"I have only played 60 minutes against Accrington Stanley so far, then I got the injury after a few minutes against Dundee and now I've missed Everton and the first game over here.

"I feel okay and I think I am probably as fit as anyone, but I'm just missing the match fitness and I could do with a 90 minute run-out before the start of the season.

"The ankle is going to hurt me, but at this point I think I'm just going to have to play through the pain barrier to get that fitness."

Injuries are something new to Moore, who has been a virtual ever-present for the Clarets in the past three seasons.

And after missing the opening three games of last season through suspension, he is doubly determined not to sit out this campaign's curtain-raiser against Sheffield United in eight days time.

Moore said: "Looking back on the past three seasons, I've been involved in 46 games, then 46 and then 40.

"I don't really get injured a lot, but I'm still a young-ish lad and I should be okay. I certainly hope so because the way things have gone in the last two pre-seasons has been a bit strange.

"Last pre-season I scored a lot of goals and then was suspended for the first three games of the season and now I have the injury to contend with.

"I've only played that one game at Accrington, but I scored and so long as I can keep up a 100 per cent record, I'll be more than happy!"

Meanwhile, Burnley's players enjoyed an afternoon off yesterday as they travelled 2,000 metres into the mountains to visit the famous Dachstein Ice Caves.

Manager Steve Cotterill is allowing his squad time to recover from Tuesday's game coupled with the effects of pre-season training, but the Clarets are back on the training ground today in preparation for tomorrow evening's game against Bundesliga Two side 1860, which takes place just across the German border in Freilassing.
