IT would appear that the residents of Guide were quite correct in opposing any initial industrial development in the area, some years ago.
Many no doubt feared that any planning consent given would be the thin edge of the wedge -- and so it has transpired.
There appear to be signs advertising developments all over the area -- even in the meadows above the two reservoirs, which Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council had designated as Green Spaces in their own Development Plan. These meadows have been good areas for breeding skylarks, which, although more common in the past nationally, are sadly no longer so.
So much so in fact, that developments have been refused in many areas because of the presence of skylarks.
It would appear that there is no-one responsible for conservation at Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.
