Stalybridge Celtic 0 Bury 2 by Phil Thorp: BURY wound up their pre-season warm-up fixtures with a convincing victory at Conference North side Stalybridge.

Graham Barrow's side grew more dangerous as the game went on, while the match also underlined just what a welcome problem the manager has regarding his strikeforce for next Saturday's opening match of the season.

Which two of the club's four recognised strikers will start is anyone's guess. On this showing Dave Nugent and Chris Porter did themselves no harm after they replaced the more experienced Jon Newby/Graeme Jones combination in the second half.

Nugent scored the second goal after Brian Barry-Murphy grabbed the first, three minutes after the break, hooking home a measured cross from Tom Kennedy. Kennedy also supplied the ball for Nugent's low strike.

"It was a good workout in every sense of the word," said Barrow. "I didn't think we made the most of our attacks in the first half but we started brighter after half time.

"I have a dilemma in who is going to play up front, but that's the way I want it, I want as many headaches as possible all over the park."
