FIREMEN gave a lift to people who were stranded in alift. Blackburn firefighters were called to Livesey Court, Mill Hill, when five children got stuck just below the seventh floor.
The crew had to manually open the doors and wind up the lift before releasing the youngsters who had been stuck for over 30 minutes.

A 32-TON lorry smashed into a Burnley garden in the second accident of its kind at the spot in a fortnight.
The lorry overturned after being in a collision with a car in Todmorden Road, opposite the junction with Brooklands Road.
Both drivers were only slightly injured but the vehicles left the road strewn with wreckage and glass.
50 years ago
BLACKBURN Grammar School scouts told of their narrow escape from floods during a camping trip on the Isle of Arran.
The group had to race against time to save their equipment after the scout master had seen the Rosa Burn stream swelling ominously under heavy rain.
He managed to marshall the boys into a quick evacuation minutes before the stream burst its banks and flooded the area.
