A BLACKBURN man has died after an accident near Horwich.
The 54-year-old, whose identity has not been revealed by police, was in a road accident involving two cars near the Reebok Stadium.
The man, who was driving a Vauxhall Corsa, was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital after the smash at 5.55pm on Friday near the roundabout at Junction 6 of the M61.
Greater Manchester Police said the Corsa was travelling southbound when it crossed the central reservation and collided with a Mitsubishi Shogun.
Firefighters used cutting equipment to free the Blackburn driver. He died in hospital. A 29-year-old man from Bickerstaff, driving the Mitshubishi, was taken to hospital with a broken leg.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact them on 0161 856 7202.
