FLYING winger Keith Gillespie last night hailed Rovers' Worthington Cup success as the highlight of his career.
Before yesterday's 2-1 victory over Spurs, the Northern Ireland international hadn't won any major honour in the English domestic game.
So his Worthington Cup winner's medal will now take pride of place in his trophy cabinet and he has called on his team-mates to savour their achievement.
"We've got to make sure we savour this for what it is because this is a fantastic achievement for the club," said Gillespie. "Everything about the day was brilliant. The result, the celebrations, the atmosphere - everything.
"You always dream about things like this as a little boy and, now it's come true. This has got to be the highlight of my career so far."
Gillespie played a crucial part in Rovers' opening goal after his misshit shot was deflected into the path of Matt Jansen who then swept it past Neil Sullivan.
And he was delighted for Jansen that he got his name on the scoresheet on such a big occasion.
"I was delighted for Matt, he worked very hard today, and he could have had a second one just afterwards which really would have put us in the driving seat.
"But all credit to Tottenham because they came back well, they caused us a few scarey moments at the end and Brad Friedel needed to be outstanding."
Now Gillespie hopes Rovers' Cup success will provide a launchpad for safety in the Premiership -- starting with a win in Saturday's six-pointer at the Reebok.
