MEMBERS of Padiham Town Council have slammed yobs who have vandalised a memorial to the Waddington sisters.
The bird table was put up in the town's Centenary Garden as a poignant tribute to Louise, 11, Hayley, 10 and Gemma, seven, who died when fire ripped through their Lancaster Drive home earlier this year.
Within days of the memorial being installed, three tealights on the top of the table where candles could be placed were smashed.
Last night councillors met and decided the tealights should be replaced.
Mayor Mark Jinkinson told the meeting: "I was quite disgusted this weekend to see it had been vandalised.
"I think it is despicable and I suggest that the person responsible searches their conscience."
Coun Bob Clark said the memorial should be repaired because otherwise the vandals would have won.
He added: "But we must make it so we are not throwing down the gauntlet and giving them a challenge."
