LEYLAND Barracudas Micro A team produced a tremendous result in their last match to win the Micro League of the North West Division A for the third year in succession.
Although they were missing a number of swimmers the team produced the performance of the year to score the 148 points they needed to ensure Leyland continued their run of success.
The final points were as follows: Blackburn 84, Fleetwood 119, Carnforth 131 and Leyland 150.
The team is now unbeaten in the north west since 2001, and will now look forward to the divisional swim off in September against Preston.
The last Micro A match and as our close rivals Preston had completed their matches the challenge was set for Leyland to obtain 148 points to finish top of the league. This was a tough target as Leyland were starting with 4 of their swimmers not available due to holidays.
Our opponents were, Blackburn, Fleetwood and Carnforth. We knew that Fleetwood and Carnforth would push us hard as all our previous matches with them had seen close results. Team talk on the bus had set the team ready for the challenge ahead.
