ONE of Burnley's most notable landmarks was uprooted.
The elderberry tree known as 'The Chimney Tree' had grown on top of the 90ft stack at Harrison Fireplaces on Bank Parade for nearly 20 years.
Poems had been written about it and Christmas decorations hung on the tree which had formed part of the town centre skyline. The tree had grown too big for the chimney and its roots were pushing out brick work - making it unsafe.
