A CONTROVERSIAL exhibition featuring dissected human bodies is heading to Blackpool.
Bodies Revealed: The Exhibition is set for a four-month run at the Winter Gardens from August 6 before starting on a world tour.
The exhibition features full, dissected human specimens from people who donated their bodies to medical science for the purpose of study and education.
The bodies are preserved for inspection by a process called polymer preservation, which leaves a specimen that can be easily examined without the risk of decay.
Visitors will be able to see the inner workings of the body and how organs are affected by disease. Nearly 20 million people have already seen similar exhibitions in Europe and Asia.
The exhibition is being run by the company who ran the highly successful 'Titanic, the Artifact Exhibition.'
Medical director, Dr Ray Glover, said: "I've discovered in my more than 30 years of teaching anatomy to medical students, seeing promotes understanding and understanding promotes the most practical kind of body education possible.
"I am very pleased to join the company in its efforts to develop multiple touring exhibitions utilising these extraordinary human specimens for world-wide presentation."
