TENANTS of social landlord Calico Housing in Burnley are to benefit from a new £65,000 IT system which will speed up response times for repair and maintenance work.
The new system means the company's tradesmen will be issued with hand-held computers so they can receive jobs from staff at head office.
This means they will no longer have to return to Calico's head office, in Croft Street, to pick up details of their next job and can deal with request for repairs and maintenance work more quickly.
Paul McCabe, IT manager for Calico Housing Limited, said: "The new system will really help us boost efficiency by enabling us to use our existing workforce more effectively.
"It follows on from our recent decision to make appointments with our tenants for the majority of their repairs.
"It means tradesmen will no longer waste time returning to base to pick up details of their next job and head office will have immediate access to information on the status of any given job."
