POLICE are hunting two men who threatened post office staff with a screwdriver during a robbery.
The men, who were wearing baseball caps, scarves round their faces and dark clothes, went into Blacko post office, in Gisburn Road, just after 4pm yesterday.
Brandishing a screwdriver, they demanded access to the safe. But this was refused by the owner and they left with £60 from the till.
The pair, said to be in their 20s, made off in a white hatchback car, in the direction of Foulridge. A car matching the description was found yesterday evening in Higherford. It is believed to have been stolen from Bolton.
Police, who do not believe that the robbers are part of an organised group, are appealing for witnesses.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the police station on 01282 425001 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
