THIS Saturday there will be a special open day at St James Church in Accrington to which anyone with a connection to St James Schoolrooms are invited.
The schoolrooms on Cannon Street have played host to several generations of Accrington youngsters having served as a school Sunday school, meeting rooms and as the venue for a host of clubs, societies and concerts.
Now the schoolrooms are undergoing renovation and refurbishment and will open as a community resource centre run by Hyndburn First.
But, as we reported in Looking Back a few weeks ago, it is hoped that memorabilia and memories from the schoolrooms illustrious history can be retained in the new-look building.
Anyone with old photographs of St James Schoolrooms can take them along to the open day at St James Church on Saturday or can contact Mrs Eve Howson, of Willows Lane, Accrington on 01254 233774.
A number of former pupils who attended the schoolrooms are known to be attending the open day which runs from 10am to 4pm.
