PROBLEMS that have blighted the opening of a restored running track in Radcliffe will soon be a distant memory.
Work began on a scheme to give the Cams Lane running track a facelift in April, but difficulties with security fencing have meant that bosses at Bury Council have put back the opening date to later this summer.
Mr Tom West, from Radcliffe Athletics Club said: "The track is not officially open to the public yet, and we are running a little behind.
"But are hoping that any problems will be sorted soon."
The track, costing £33,000 is at the rear of Cams Lane CP School, and will also include renewed long jump pits, fencing and gates.
The project is being provided by Bury Council under their £1.5 million Cleaner, Safe, greener initiative and is also part of a major drive to increase sport and participation in the town.
