HOSPITAL bosses have unveiled a major piece of artwork they hope can help make people better as part of an £8,000 arts and mental health project.
Blackburn artist Martha Henry put together the stunning piece which includes 12 stained glass panels depicting a water theme and incorporating a waterfall.
The artwork will adorn a main thoroughfare at Royal Preston Hospital and has been designed to inspire patients, visitors and staff, as well as improve the look of one of the hospital's main thoroughfares.
It was officially unveiled by Preston Primary Care Trust (PCT) chairwoman Wendy Hogg and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals chairman Brian Booth.
Martha said: "The windows are about 60 square feet in size and took four-months to make, using a technique which dates back to the 12th century. Hopefully people will get to know the different floors by the scene on the window. If it makes people want to climb the stairs to look at the windows that will be fantastic, but the aim is to make the area more inviting."
