BURY Croquet Club's teams had a successful weekend when they were involved in three versions of the game.
On Saturday the South's Golf Croquet team were visited by Pendle.
The team of Sheila Bruckshaw, David Dean, Margaret Yates and Judith Gaskell first played in all pairings against similar Pendle pairs, each round being tied.
When the format changed to singles break-even rounds were again the norm except that Bury won the second round 3-1 giving a match win by twelve games to ten. David won all his four singles.
On Sunday the Caesar handicap squad had visitors from Crake Valley.
In the doubles Tony Phillips and Colleen Forkin won while Steve Holmes and Len Forkin were defeated.
After lunch Tony pegged out first in the singles, closely followed by Colleen's opponent. Steve also lost to a pegout and in the last game to finish Len was five ahead at time, giving a match drawn at three games all.
Also on Sunday, the Short Croquet team visited Chester.
In the all-play all format Bury pulled well ahead in the first two rounds, then faded a little. Overall, Jean Hargreaves won all four of her games to secure her second successive handicap reduction while Margaret Anderton was also in profit.
Mac Hardman broke even while Richard Harvey had a poor day with only one win. The team won the match by ten games to six.
