A 74-YEAR-OLD man in Leigh suffered a broken hip and head injuries after he was pushed to the floor by a thief who forced his way into his house.
Shortly after 7.30pm on Thursday night, the pensioner was watching television at his home on Thornton Road, Mosley Common, when he heard a knock at the door. The man pushed the victim in the chest causing him to fall over and then searched the house before running off.
At this stage it is unknown whether anything was stolen. The pensioner was taken to Hope Hospital.
A GMP spokesman said: "The victim has received a number of injuries as a result of this attack and has been left extremely shaken by his ordeal.
"The offender showed no concern for the victim after pushing him over and leaving him without calling for an ambulance.
"This was a cruel attack on an elderly and vulnerable man and I would ask anyone who may have seen the incident or anything suspicious in the area at the time to come forward."
