CHILDREN on the Springs Estate in Bury found monsters lurking in the rubbish when they took part in a holiday playscheme.
The youngsters enjoyed two weeks of "Summer of Fun" activities, including a junk workshop with artist Sheridan Hilton.
They made robot monsters out of old boxes, tins and cartons, and showed their colourful designs off in the street.
The eight to 11-year-olds also had a clown workshop where they learned circus skills, and were taken on a trip to Manchester's Science and Industry Museum.
Activities were organised by the Springs Tenants Management Committee and Sanctuary Housing, with cash from the local Network Fund.
Community Development worker Katrina Baker said: "The children have really enjoyed themselves.
"They've taken part wholeheartedly and have really thrown themselves into what they were doing."
