WHEN Mike and Leesa Beckwith decided to redecorate their home, it was a recipe for disaster that only a Channel 4 makeover show could help sort out.
Mike and Leesa, of Walmersley Old Road, Bury, will appear on Channel 4's latest makeover show, Honey I Ruined the House, next Wednesday (11 August).
The programme visits homes influenced by the recent flood of DIY makeover shows that, without the aid of professional designers, have gone tragically wrong. Mike and Leesa were no exception after unsuccessfully attempting to recreate the style of nearby Barratt show homes.
Style expert Naomi Cleaver visited the couple to lend a helping hand with advice and tips on how to rejuvenate their home.
Leesa (32) said: "Our home looked a mess, more like a toy shop than a grown up living space, but now it looks fantastic. The living room took some getting used to. when we first saw the wallpaper we weren't too sure, but now it is up it actually looks quite cool. It was a brave move but it really does work."
She added: "We had extensive conversations with the design team to determine our tastes so it wasn't like a Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen programme with fluffy zebra prints. We were involved in all decisions at every stage."
And Leesa concluded: "Naomi comes across as being very stern but she is absolutely lovely."
