MANCHESTER Jewish Museum has won national recognition for its history of the Jewish community.
The museum, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, has received The Sandford Award for Heritage Education from the Heritage Education Trust .
The Heritage Education Trust commented that the museum, in Cheetham Hill Road, provided heritage education of high quality in two distinct but related areas: that of Jewish practice and belief and of history of Manchester Jewry from c1750 to 1945.
Pupils of all ages receive authentic teaching and experiences in RE and social history from the museum experts and last year alone more than 20,000 people visited the amenity.
