A FIRE engine responding to a car fire was involved in a collision with a car.
The appliance was travelling anti-clockwise along the hard shoulder of the M60 near to Junction 17 at Whitefield on Wednesday (Aug 4) when it and a VW Passat crashed into each other shortly after 1pm
The two passengers of the Passat were helped from their car by the crew manning the damaged engine and were taken to North Manchester General Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.
Less than 30 minutes later, motorway police attended a two car collision at the same location but on the other side of the motorway. None of those involved in the second accident were injured.
All the lanes on the M60 at Junction 17 were closed for a short time while both accident scenes were cleared of debris.
