LEIGH RMI have missed out on the chance to take Blackpool pair Matthew Blinkhorn and Steve McMahon Junior on loan.
Phil Starbuck approached the Tangerines about a three-month deal for both players, but trainee midfielder McMahon rejected the move and Blinkhorn, aged 19, opted to join League One side Luton.
"I'm not quite sure who is advising these people," said Starbuck.
"We were offering them the chance to play first-team football with Leigh and at the end of the day, that's what every footballer needs." The Railwaymen complete their pre-season preparations on Saturday with a visit to Newcastle Town, where clues to their first choice eleven should be stronger.
RMI are likely to give a much-awaited debut to striker Karl Rose after his summer switch from Scarborough.
But Alex Meechan is unlikely to join the Hilton Park club despite his appearance in last week's friendly against Everton.
The former Forest Green attacker is also trialling with Conference rivals Barnet.
