THANKS to the organisers of the Unity in the Community' summer youth football league that has just finished.
For the last four months well over 200 children have been kept active in a league competition organised by Blackburn with Darwen Council.
They have participated in small-sided football games and have learnt to work as a team and play alongside children from a range of backgrounds and different neighbourhoods.
Can I thank the council, the youth workers who helped organise this and the volunteers that made the league successful and could I urge the borough councillors to make sure that these events not only continue but also are expanded so more kids can be given something worth while to do in their spare time.
JOHN CLUCAS, Manager Under-10s Team, Mellor Junior Football Club (via email).
