Clarets keeper Danny Coyne is winning the fitness battle to make his 300th career league appearance this weekend.

The Welsh goalkeeper has been undergoing intensive treatment on the ankle injury that flared up last weekend and forced a withdrawal from international duty in midweek.

However, Clarets boss Steve Cotterill is confident healing hands will allow Coyne to resume training today in time to reach his milestone in Saturday's clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

"Danny should be okay," Cotterill revealed today. "We were never going to play him in the midweek testimonial after he pulled out of the Welsh squad, but we're hopeful he will be back training today in time for the weekend."

Another bumper crowd is expected at Turf Moor this weekend following the Clarets' unbeaten start to the season under new boss Cotterill.

And striker Ian Moore, who scored the winning goal at Watford last week to propel the Clarets into sixth place in the fledgling Championship table, believes Burnley can build on their impressive start to further fuel optimism.

He said: "The manager was made up with the crowd against Sheffield United in the opening home game, so another turn out like that would be nice.

"Wolves will bring a few and a big crowd at Turf Moor is always special, so we will be looking forward to it.

"Times are good at the moment and hopefully we will put on another good display.

"Wolves still haven't won a game and they were beaten on the opening day at Stoke, so if they can do it there's a chance we can pick three points up too.

"We just have to be as organised as we have been so far and we will be difficult to beat."

Much of that is down to resolute defending that has so far reaped its rewards.

Burnley have conceded just one goal in three league games, and go into battle with Dave Jones' promotion favourites with back-to-back clean sheets.

And Moore lays much of the credit for that transformation at the feet of summer signings John McGreal and fellow centre back Frank Sinclair.

He added: "With the two central defenders the gaffer has brought in, we don't look like we are going to concede a goal.

"I knew John McGreal from my Tranmere days, so when he signed I knew instantly he was going to be a good signing.

"Then there's Frank, who has always given me a hard time whenever I've played against him before.

"You know when you have played against quality players like that and he has come here, settled in and done brilliantly."

Meanwhile, Clarets duo Michael Duff and Micah Hyde both added to their international caps last night by playing for Northern Ireland and Jamaica respectively.

Duff was a 78th minute substitute for Ireland as Lawrie Sanchez's side earned a creditable scoreless draw in Switzerland, while Hyde played the full 90 minutes of the Reggae Boys 1-1 draw with the US in Kingston.
