LEIGH councillor Myra Whiteside has been appointed to the Board of Leigh Homes in place of former Golborne councillor David Kelly.
The company -- a division of Wigan and Leigh Housing -- is responsible for managing council homes on the eastern side of Wigan borough, and is currently overseeing a multi-million transformation of properties across Leigh, Golborne, Atherton and Tyldesley.
Cllr Whiteside, who represents the new Leigh West ward, said: "I'm delighted to be able to play an active role in a company that is doing so much to improve the quality of life for council tenants.
"It's a big responsibility."
