AFTER an abandoned game on Saturday, due to a wet ground, Unsworth went to Ashton in the mood to take five points.

The previous day's weather hadn't done Unsworth any favours, as they needed the opportunity to win five points to maintain pressure on leaders Norden.

However, they had to make do with the opportunity at Ashton

They won the toss and put the home side into bat on a soft, damp wicket.

South Africans Dion Taljard and Alan Badenhorst set about the bowling task in a positive manner, although the wickets were slow to arrive at first, the runs were held in check, with just 17 on the board off 12 overs at the cost of two wickets.

Two wickets then fell quickly and at 25 for 5 the score looked desperate for the home side.

It moved on to 62 for 5 off 35 overs before a collapse ensued.

After Selby was caught by Wiggans off Badenhorst only Hussain with nine made any impression.

Pro Robbie MacQueen produced 12 immaculate overs, taking four wickets for just eight runs (four of which were wides), as Ashton were all out for 69 with eight overs remaining.

In reply Unsworth knocked off the required runs at a brisk pace.

Skipper Paul Entwistle and overseas amateur J.P. Hean rattled up 61 runs in just 15 overs, and when Entwistle was caught, Wiggans helped to reach the target in just two further overs.

Hean finished on 42 not out, with five fours and two sixes.
