SOCIAL services bosses are worried that carers are missing out on support because they look after people who live in another district.
Bury and its five bordering authorities -- Bolton, Rochdale, Salford, Manchester and Lancashire -- have now adopted new protocols to determine who should take responsibility for the carer's assessment and what support carers should be getting and from whom.
These protocols can be viewed on the council's website at www.bury.gov.uk
Councillor Tim Chamberlain, executive member for health and social services, said: "I am delighted that local authorities have recognised the need for a more co-ordinated approach."
