A BURNING cigarette packet was pushed through a letterbox in Whitefield.
The arson attack happened at 11.50pm on Sunday (Aug 15) at the home of a 27-year-old woman in Cambridge Grove, Whitefield.
PC Kenneth Royles of Bury police said: "The victim was woken by the sound of her letterbox slamming shut, then her smoke alarm activating. She managed to dowse the flames using water and an extinguisher. A door curtain suffered minor damage."
