MIXED fortunes for our local sides this week, with Blackpool all rounder Stephen Croft having a good day with both bat and ball against Preston at Stanley Park.

Batting first Preston were bowled out for 129 with opener Bavla top scorer on 52.

No one else could get in to the 20s as Croft took 4 for 22 off nine overs.

In reply the home side looked to be cruising to an easy victory with four out of the first five batsmen scoring 103 of the required runs.

But none of the last five batsmen managed to score and the home side scraped home courtesy of 12 extras for the loss of 9 wickets.

Leyland entertained in-form Fleetwood at Fox Lane on Saturday and lost by 7 wickets.

Aiden Walsh with 37 was the top scorer for Leyland with youngsters Wright and Kelly scoring 28 and 22, respectively both not out.

Professional Doug Marrillier returned 5 for 35 off 13.

In reply Fleetwood took 32 overs to get the runs for the loss of 3 wickets.

Clinning 52 not out and Marrillier 57 did the spade work in an expected victory.

Despite not having a win in the league in either division both first and second XIs at Leyland have reached the semi-final stages of the Thwaites' League Cup.
