A TRIO of choir singers will take a leap of faith to raise funds for Stand All Saints Church in Whitefield.

And Carole Barnet (45), Pippa Dodd (62) and Lynda Hinton (60) will look to the heavens for inspiration for their daredevil stunt.

The women are taking part in a sponsored parachute jump on Saturday (Aug 21) to raise money for the church roof restoration fund.

Their brave feat, at Cark Airfield in the Lake District, will also boost the Multiple Sclerosis Society and Macmillan Cancer Relief.

Lynda decided to join her two choral chums after Carole's husband arranged the sky dive for a Christmas present. She said: "Carole thought it would be a good idea to do it for the church restoration fund and Pippa decided to join her. I have always wanted to fly a plane and jump out of it.

Lynda said they were all looking forward to the experience, if a little apprehensive, and expected quite a crowd of supporters to cheer them on.

The trio will take an intensive training session in the morning, followed by the parachute jump in tandem with an experienced sky diver.

The event is expected to raise £2,000 for the church and charities. To sponsor the trio call 796 6516.
