BLACKBURN Rovers manager Graeme Souness says supporters can expect at least one more signing this summer.

Souness has spread his net far and wide to try to land a new face before the transfer window slams shut at the end of August.

And a blast from the past could be the main target after the Blues boss admitted renewing his interest in Norwegian winger Morten Pedersen.

Rovers were linked with the Troms wide man earlier this summer, when discussions were held over a potential £1.5m switch to the Premiership.

Souness even flew to Norway to check out the player's credentials himself before ending his initial interest.

However, following further conversations with former Rovers defender Stig Inge Bjornebye - now assistant manager of the Norwegian national side - Rovers have joined Tottenham in the hunt for the 22-year-old international.

Souness said: "We are still chasing several things and it's just wait and see. I can assure supporters that we are active and we will have at least one more face before the deadline arrives at the end of this month.

"We have renewed our interest in Pedersen, but he is just one of several options that we are exploring."

Troms chairman, Trygve Myrvang, confirmed: "It is correct that Blackburn have shown great interest in Pedersen lately.

"There has been a lot of rumours and it's not unlikely that there will be a concrete offer soon."

However, one player Rovers will definitely NOT be signing is Nigerian striker Peter Odemwingie.

The 23-year-old, who plays for Belgian side La Louviere, recently had a second trial at Ewood after springing to Rovers' attention during this summer's African Cup of Nations, when he came off the bench to score twice against South Africa.

However Souness today admitted: "Peter was here for one day and he did okay, but we are not racing out to sign him."

A striker would appear to be surplus to requirements anyhow, since Souness can call on Paul Dickov, Jon Stead, Dwight Yorke, Paul Gallagher and Matt Jansen.

And in a remarkable reversal of fortunes Souness admitted that, despite their well documented public spat this summer, Yorke is now his first choice striker.

"They say a week is a long time in politics, but football it is exactly the same and it's a funny old business," admitted Souness.

"Dwight, on the first day of pre-season, was way down the pecking order. Now, he is arguably the first choice as a striker when we play games at the moment."
