A BURNLEY school has been given a £5,000 grant to pay for new sports equipment.
The money, from the Awards for All Fund, will also be used to bring in qualified sports tutors to teach children at St John the Baptist Infant and Junior School.
Courses expected to be run at the school include the FA Junior managers certificate, gymnastics and running.
Kieran Heakin, head teacher at St John's Juniors, said: "The funds from the Awards for All will help us to develop the abilities of the children in our schools.
"It will also allow us to encourage more participation in sporting activities.
"We will be able to provide after school activities with qualified staff, which will benefit the young people in the community.
"In the longer term the ability to replace older school equipment will ultimately benefit all pupils attending the schools in the future."
