Clarets stars from the past joined in the celebrations at the 60th birthday party of one of Burnley's all-time greats.

Former midfield star Peter Noble celebrated his milestone anniversary with family and friends - many who travelled from his home town of Sunderland - at the Thornton Arms, Brownside, Burnley.

Paul Fletcher, a Turf Moor team-mate of Peter during the 1970s, gave a tribute speech to the player who broke football records by never missing a penalty in his career.

Among the other ex-Clarets who joined in the fun were Stan Ternent, Brian Miller, Derek Scott, Willie Irvine, Marshall Burke, Ian Britton, Frank Casper, Brian Flynn, Ian Brennan, Harry Wilson and ex-physio Jimmy Holland.

Peter started his career at Newcastle United. He was signed by Burnley from Swindon in 1973 and was transferred with Paul Fletcher to Blackpool in 1980. Blackpool at the time were managed by Stan Ternent.

Peter, who lives in Lindsay Park, Worsthorne, made a total of 298 appearances for the Clarets scoring 80 goals.

He was joined at the party by his wife Jenny, daughters Tracey and Nicola and grandchildren Jack and Jessica.
