CHURCH opened up a nine-point lead at the top of the Musbury Fabrics Lancashire League yesterday as pro Ruvin Peiris smashed an unbeaten 136.
The Sri Lankan hit 16 fours and two sixes off 147 balls as the Church score soared to 244-8.
Rishton's sub professional Tushar Arothe made a valiant effort to impact the run chase with 80 off just 57 balls.
But for the second day in succession, Nick Westwell and Andrew Bentley combined to wrap up victory, with four wickets each, as Rishton were all out for 176.
Bacup faded from the title picture as Ramsbottom provided a fitting performance to celebrate the centenary of their Victorian pavilion.
Pro Murali Kartik and Chris Eardley took five wickets each as Bacup collapsed to 105 all out, a target Ramsbottom reached for the loss of five wickets.
