A MAN was in intensive care today after being hit with a pool cue in a Blackburn pub.

Emergency services were called to the incident at the Jubilee Pub, in Northgate, at 1am today.

The Oswaldtwistle man, in his 40s, suffered head injuries and was taken to Blackburn Royal Infirmary intensive care unit.

Three men were arrested on suspicion of assault and were due to be questioned by officers at midday. The pub was guarded by a police officer this morning.

Inspector Stuart Bruce said: "The man was hit on the back of his head with a pool cue. There was an altercation and three men were arrested."

Doctors today said the man's condition was poorly.
