ACCRINGTON Stanley suffered their worst Nationwide Conference defeat at Stevenage Borough.

But manager John Coleman refused to be down-beat, despite seeing his side lose 5-0 and surrender their 100 per cent record.

"You've got to take some positives out of it but we fell for the sucker punch early on," he said.

"We'd warned them, we tried to guard against it but we were sloppy.

"We had a free kick on the edge of their box and we've conceded from it.

"Peter Cavanagh knows that if it's gone back to Jon Kennedy it's not a problem. We didn't do that and we gave tham a daft goal.

"They got an all right second goal, then to 45 minutes there's only one team in it and unfortunately we didn't get a chance to give them a sucker punch back."

He added: "I'm convinced that we're a better side than Stevenage.

"That's not being blase of trying to be smart. I'm not.

"On the balance of play on Saturday, we dominated the first half despite being 2-0 down. If our chances went in I think we would have gone on and won the game."
