A HOUSE in Sunny Bank Road, Bury, suffered minor smoke damage at 1am on Saturday (Aug 21) when the chimney caught fire.
Neighbours alerted Whitefield fire brigade after spotting sparks shooting from the chimney.
The occupants were woken by firefighters who extinguished the flames. The couple had lit the fire for the first cold night of the summer.
