BURY FC always strive to be a family club and proof of that comes with the activities of young striker Dave Nugent's nearest and dearest.

While 18-year-old Dave is banging in the goals, off the field, his mother Sandra is raising funds for the cash-starved Shakers back home in Liverpool.

The Bury FC Supporters' Society, Forever Bury, has a scheme going to cover the Gigg Lane pitch in pennies.

Named "Time for Change at Gigg," the Society has handed out money boxes inviting people to put their unwanted copper coins in, to add to the pitch-covering collection.

Recently, Sandra walked in to the Supporters' Society cabin at Gigg Lane with the money box she had placed on the bar at the St Agnes Labour Club in Liverpool that contained £27.50.

This was the second Gigg Lane money box members of the St Agnes Club have filled.

"If only we could get Bury clubs and pubs doing as well as this," commented Dave Giffard, who accepted the Liverpool donation from Sandra on behalf of Forever Bury.

Any organisations who want a "Time For Change At Gigg" money box should contact Forever Bury at the Cabin on the Gigg Lane forecourt.

The Trust's annual big fundraising event, the Duck Race, will once again be held at the Brown Cow in Burrs Country Park, Bury on Sunday, August 29.

Among the attractions are a balloon race and the usual array of amusements.

There's something for everybody in what is always a major moneyspinner for the supporters' trust.

The Trust's next car boot sale will be at Gigg Lane on Sunday morning, September 5.
