A BIN wagon driver caught using his mobile phone at the wheel by police was fined £60 at Burnley Magistrates' Court.
The court was told Michael Judson, 39, was at a roundabout in Colne when spotted by an officer. When stopped Judson said his boss had phoned him and had told him to ring back.
Judson, of St John's Place, Nelson, admitted using a handheld mobile while driving. He told a district judge he had refused a fixed penalty.
He said he was under the impression that as long as a vehicle was stationary it was OK to use a mobile. He had been waiting for traffic to come round the roundabout. His handbrake was applied.
