RESIDENTS in Darwen are pushing to make a better life for themselves through the council's Neighbourhood Learning Planning project.
Meetings have been regularly held at the Earcroft Community Base where people can work together to make a change through learning and build on their local knowledge.
A newsletter has also been delivered to 1,200 homes in the hope of building more relations within neighbourhoods.
One group was hoping to set up Spanish classes for parents and young children under five and, after unsuccessful funding bids, the project has been taken up by Family Learning with Lifelong Learning at Blackburn with Darwen Council.
Other residents have been looking at youth provision and will be took forward at the Darwen Neighbourhood Network meetings organised for voluntary and charity groups by the Council for Voluntary Service.
