BACUP Credit Union is making big strides with its Young Savers scheme.
Six local primary schools have joined the scheme, including Northern in Weir; St Mary's, Bacup; Britannia, Bacup; St Saviour's, Bacup; Thorn, Bacup; and Holy Trinity, Stacksteads.
Children at the schools now have the opportunity to save their pocket money for special occasions while receiving the benefits of regular saving. Any child up to the age of 16 can join the Young Savers scheme at the Credit Union office in St James Square.
Any parent who would like to find out more about the scheme can contact the office and staff there will be happy to help.
Representatives from the union are offering to visit local community groups who would like to find out more about the benefits of joining the scheme.
Bacup Credit Union can now accept members who live or work in the Facit, Shawforth, Whitworth or Healey areas. For more information ring 01706 601809. Or email bacupcredit.union@virgin.net
