THE jury has been discharged in the case of a couple accused of violence at a pub's karaoke night.
Judge Andrew Gilbart QC made the move on the third day of a trial at Burnley Crown Court.
Defendants Michael Furlong, 35, and Wendy Green, 37, both of Moorland Road, Burnley, are accused of attacking John Quigley in the Coronation Hotel, Oxford Road, Burnley, last September, causing him actual bodily harm.
Furlong also faces an allegation of common assault against Mr Quigley's wife, Donna. He and his co-defendant deny the charges against them.
The court had heard claims Furlong hit Mr Quigley, and Green then hit him over the head with a bottle until it smashed.
Furlong was then said to have assaulted Mrs Quigley as she went to her husband's aid. A new trial date has been set for October 25.
