THE wet summer prompted Newchurch WI to buy a gazebo to keep them dry at community events.
But the cover was not needed at their garden party which turned out to be a great success thanks to John and Jean Riley.
The group's knitters have had busy needles and as a result delivered 20 hats and 12 jackets to the premature baby unit at Warrington.
Speaker Mr E Denning gave an insight into his life as a trombonist with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the competition for a home-made musical instrument was won by Mrs J Hunt with A Williams and O Lee runners-up.
