CULCHETH WI heard the pros and cons of an old fashioned education when Derek Meakin related the history of schooling from the 1940s.
Members spoke of their school experiences and voted the old style best.
Former TV royal correspondent Jenny Bond will speak at the Winsford Council meeting on October 12 and there will be an open day on the 15th.
On October 6 members are off to the Lowry to see The Play What I Wrote and the following month visit Chester's Gateway for a production of Haunted Hotel.
The group's community service this year is making school books for visually impaired children and members are appealing for different textured fabrics and help to carry out the work.
John Howard's talk at the next meeting on September 21 will be: "More Lees than Cheshire Fleas" by John Howard. Everyone welcome.
