FIVE girls certainly cleaned-up when they organised a car wash in aid of Fairfield Hospital's Baby Lifeline Society.
The efforts of the Tottington youngsters raised £53, which also included the proceeds of a raffle with friends.
The fivesome, who all live in the Claybank Drive area of the village, were Yasmin Rothwell (13) and 11-year-olds Melissa Bodell, Emma Wood, Hannah Birmingham and Laura Mills.
Brandishing their buckets and sponges, the girls left neighbours' cars sparkling after charging £2 per wash.
Their fundraising came in the wake of last month's announcement surrounding the proposed closure of the hospital's special care baby unit.
Yasmin was one of the many babies cared for by the staff when she was born ten weeks premature.
